Hurley Elementary Archery Team Qualifies for World Tournament After a fantastic send off for the Hurley Elementary Archery team last Wednesday, the students were excited to show their shooting skills in Louisville on May 9, 10, 11. The team has practiced hard and it paid off for them as they shot against the top schools in the nation in both Bullseye and 3-D competitions. In Bullseye competition, Luie Nava, a fifth grader, shot the top score with his personal best of 278/300. This score placed him in the 23rd spot out of a total of 2110 elementary boy shooters. The team needed a score higher than 2550 points to qualify for the World Tournament on June 8th -10th in Myrtle Beach, SC. They finished with a score of 2892 points which qualifies them for the World Tournament. The team also qualified for the World Tournament in the 3-D competition. For this competition, the archers are shooting six different 3-D animal targets at different distances and is more difficult due to the size of the animal. However, the team shot a score of 1417 points which put them over the qualifying score of 1150 points. Congratulations to the Hurley Elementary Archery team and thank you for all your hard work this season!
