High School Announcements (Grades 9-12)
Principal Note for High Schoolers: As we approach the final weeks of the semester, consistent attendance becomes more important than ever. Please encourage your student to be present, on time, and stay for the entire day to make the most of their learning experience. Every day in class counts, and we greatly appreciate your support in helping your student succeed! Thank you for partnering with us in their education journey.
Counselor Note for High Schoolers: We are continuing to work on making sure students are registered for the ACT. The deadline for the December ACT was today but there is still plenty of time to register for the February ACT. If you are taking the ACT in December please make sure your photo is uploaded by Friday, December 6, 2024.

FFA
Butter Braid fundraiser has started, if you are in FFA and need an order form come see Ms. Hance, everyone must participate. Orders are due no later than Nov. 14th. Area 12 Barnwarming Tuesday, Nov 12, at Hollister. Bus leaves at 5pm and will return at 9 pm.

Stuco will be hosting the 5-8th grade Winter Social on Friday, December 6.
Jr. High Announcements (Grades 7th & 8th)

Counselor Note for Jr. High: Today we had our first Burrell Meeting in the Library covering the topic of Social Media. If you get a chance, ask your child about what they learned in regard to safe use of social media. We will continue to schedule these Burrell Meetings every other week and they will occur either on Wednesday or Friday during 6th hour.
Teacher announcements for Jr. High Core Subjects:
7th grade ELA (Knight): 7th Grade will continue working on their prewriting documents for their informative essay.
7th grade Reading (Lumpkin): Seventh graders will be reading the folktale “People Could Fly.” While reading, students will be learning to identify the elements of a folktale and summarize the story.
7th grade Math (Conlee): Seventh graders will be working with expressions. They will begin by learning what an equivalent expression is and how we can simplify expressions. All grades are up to date including their recent test grades. Check teacherease to see your student’s progress.
7th grade Science (Hampton): We are starting a new unit this week in the area of the central dogma of science learning about DNA and how the genetic code links to proteins of life. This unit will give our students a strong foundation for high school Biology later on.
7th grade Social Studies (Donnell): Students will be finishing the unit on South America next week and start a unit on Europe.
8th grade ELA (Knight): 8th Grade will continue working on their prewriting documents for their informative essay.
8th grade Reading (Lumpkin): Eighth graders will be reading the short essay “Scary Tales.” While reading, students will be analyzing the essay to determine the author’s viewpoint, counterarguments, and elements of language that contribute to the author’s style.
8th grade Math (Conlee): Eighth grade students will begin their work with similar figures. All grades are up to date including their recent test grades. Check teacherease to see your student’s progress.
8th grade Science (Hampton): I am very proud of how the students are digging in and learning about chemical reactions that will lead us on to understanding chemical formulas later in the semester.
8th grade Social Studies (Donnell): The 8th grade students will finish the unit on South America at the end of next week and then start a unit learning about Europe.
