High School Announcements  (Grades 9-12)

Principal Note for High Schoolers: Thank you to all those who attended parent/teacher conferences. If you were unable to attend, your child was given his/her report card and either MAP or EOC scores to take home. Please let us know if you did not receive your child’s report. 

Counselor Note for High Schoolers: Mental Health Club had their first meeting this morning.  We would love to have anyone who is interested in learning new ways to improve their Mental Health and be a part of a positive community of like minded peers.  We will have club next Friday from 6:45-7:15.  If that time is hard for you and your family, please email Mr. Slater at kslater@hurleytigers.org and we will see if we need to change the time.  Thank you so much!

Club Announcements: 

FFA: 

  • We are starting our butterbraid fundraiser this week! If you don’t have an ag class and are in FFA you need to go see Ms. Hance for an order form. Everyone in FFA must participate in the fundraiser.

  • See Ms. Hance for a chapter t-shirt order form (Parents and community members who would like a shirt). Reminder if you paid your dues, your shirt is already covered!

BBQ

  • Tuesday Oct 29, practice starts at 3:45.

  • Saturday Nov 16, practice starts at noon.

  • Tuesday Nov 26 Fundraiser

  • Saturday Dec 7 Mock contest 7:00 AM all day.

FCA

Jr. High Announcements (Grades 7th & 8th)

Club Announcements:

Teacher announcements for Jr. High Core Subjects: 

7th grade ELA (Knight): 7th Grade ELA will be starting our Informative Essay unit this week. 

7th grade Reading (Lumpkin): Seventh graders will begin reading “Women in Aviation.” This week students will be learning to identify, analyze, and draw conclusions about the author’s purpose for writing informational texts.

7th grade Math (Conlee): Students will be completing their unit on integers rules. They will be reviewing and be given a study guide. Test on Friday. 

7th grade Science (Hampton):  Students are doing a fantastic job in our unit on cellular energy as we continue to compare photosynthesis and cellular respiration in life.

7th grade Social Studies (Donnell):  Students are learning about the culture, history, and geography of South America.

8th grade ELA (Knight): 8th Grade ELA will be starting our Informative Essay unit this week. 

8th grade Reading (Lumpkin):Eighth grade students will start working through Collection Two of our reading curriculum. This week, students will begin reading “The Tell-Tale Heart.” While students are reading, they will be learning how to determine the point of view from which a story is told, evaluate the credibility of a narrator, and identify techniques used to create suspense in a fictional account.

8th grade Math (Conlee): Students will be working on transformation sequences. This will be the last phase of the unit. We will then review all transformations. Students will have a test the first week of November. 

8th grade Science (Hampton): We have learned about compounds…  Now it is time to apply our knowledge to chemical equations.  Students will learn about different types of chemical reactions that occur in our world.

8th grade Social Studies (Donnell): The new unit for World Geography is South America learning about the culture, history, physical geography features.
