High School Announcements (Grades 9-12)
Principal Note for High School: We are back in school and going strong! Students need to keep up with attendance and grades. Three week grade checks went home on Friday, September 6th. Look them over and be sure to ask your student questions about reports and their classes. Feel free to contact your child’s teachers with questions, comments or concerns.
Counselor Note for High School: If your child is interested in taking the ACT this school year, please email me at kslater@hurleytigers.org or call me at 417-369-3271 ext. 3327. I am more than happy to help register our high school students and find schools that are offering the test.

Teacher Announcements for High School Courses:
Biology & Ecology (Hampton): Our first unit tests are approaching in Biology and Ecology class. Please study the guides given to you.
English 1, 2, 3, 4 (Knight): I will be out of class on Tuesday September 10th. I expect perfect behavior from all students, no exceptions. English 3 myths need to be submitted by Tuesday. English 4 Personal Narrative needs to be submitted by Tuesday.
Personal Finance (Moeller): Unit test over Banking will be at the end of next week.
Contemporary Math, Geometry, Algebra 1, 2 (Moeller): I will be out of class Friday, September 13th. Excellent behavior is expected.
Jr. High Announcements (Grades 7th & 8th)

Counselor Note for Jr. High: All quiet on the western front for now. In the coming weeks, Burrell will begin their bi-weekly meetings similar to last year. Please let me know if your child would like to be enrolled into School Based Therapy through Burrell. I would be happy to walk you through the process of registration.

Teacher Announcements for Jr. High Core Subjects:
7th grade ELA: (Knight) Seventh grade will be continuing our personal narrative unit and will be practicing revising and editing skills.
7th grade Reading (Lumpkin): Seventh graders are working hard in class analyzing stories within our Collections curriculum. Our objective for the week is to identify, analyze, and make inferences about the elements of plot within a story.
7th grade Math (Conlee): Seventh graders will be working with proportional relationships. Students had their first big quiz of the year on Friday, September 6th. Please ask your student how they did and how math is going. Mrs. Conlee is available for tutoring on Thursdays after school until 4:45pm. If your student needs tutoring and Thursdays are not a good option please reach out to Mrs. Conlee for other options. kconlee@hurleytigers.org

7th grade Social Studies (Donnell): Seventh grade students are working on the location of the 50 states and capitals. Students are learning about the planet earth and the environment.
8th grade ELA: (Knight) Eighth graders will be continuing our Personal Narrative unit and working on revising and editing skills.
8th grade Reading (Lumpkin): Eighth graders are working hard in class analyzing stories within our Collections curriculum. Our objective for the week is to recognize and analyze the elements of a story’s plot and the author’s methods of characterization.
8th grade Math (Conlee): Eighth graders will be working with very large and small numbers. Our main focus for the week will be working with exponents. Students had their first big quiz of the year on Friday, September 6th. Please ask your student how they did and how math is going. Mrs. Conlee is available for tutoring on Thursdays after school until 4:45pm. 8th grade Science (Hampton): We will be working with types of scientific variables, data, and graphing this week. Our Unit 2 will be around the corner as we study the atomic structure.
