Dear Hurley Tiger Parents/Guardians:
I hope this message finds you well. As we anticipate the possibility of inclement weather in the coming days and weeks, I wanted to share some important reminders to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and streamline communication during these challenging times.
2-Hour Late Start Procedures: In the event of inclement weather resulting in challenging road conditions, we may implement a 2-hour late start. During such instances, the school building will open at 7:30 am, providing a safe space for parents who need to drop off their children on their way to work. Bus schedules will be adjusted accordingly, with school officially starting at 9:45 am.
AMI (Alternative Methods of Instruction) Days: Occasionally, we may declare AMI days as directed by the state. On these days, students are required to complete assignments provided in their AMI packets and Google Classrooms. Successful completion of this work is crucial, as it counts toward their attendance. Failure to complete assignments will result in an absence (mandated by the state) and impact their academic performance. Our dedicated staff will be available through Class DoJo accounts, email, and Google Classrooms during regular school hours to assist students and answer any questions they may have.
Make-Up Days and Schedule Adjustments: If we exhaust all allocated AMI days and need to make up missed school days, we will make every effort to avoid disrupting scheduled breaks (Easter, Spring Break weekends, etc.). Instead, we aim to reschedule make-up days on the next available Monday, minimizing the impact on the end-of-year calendar.
Changes to Early Morning Calls: We have compiled a separate list of parents from our student information system to use for early morning calls. If you have been receiving notifications, please note that changes may occur, and you may not receive them tomorrow. Confirm school cancellations through our Hurley Tigers app, Facebook page, and local news stations.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We prioritize the safety and education of our students, and your support is invaluable. Please stay tuned for any updates on school operations due to inclement weather.
Have a great rest of your day Tigers!
Dr. Allison Pope, Superintendent
